The Sign House is located in Caminha, overlooking to the Minho river mouth, to the Santa Tecla Hill and to the meeting between the rivers Coura and Minho.
The terrain is characterized by the presence of an element in granite masonry at its East top, topped by a cross, known as Mareantes Sign. The existing house to be refurbished will be expanded with the construction of a new volume that communicates with the existing one through an arm / bridge.
The implantation of the new volume has the intention of directing the points of view from the interior to the distant landscape and also from the geometric relationship between the 3 facades – Mareantes Sign, existing house and new volume. Its position also provides an outside private patio area between the two volumes.
